Application for Enrollment - For more on why these are so important, see my blog post on applications.

Assignment Sheets and Practice Records - I complied a list of about 20 different assignment sheets and practice records from other piano teachers who are online. Although I didn't create these files myself, I couldn't help but list this resource here.

Eighth Note Rhythm Challenge Game - I created this game to help my students who are learning how to count eighth notes. It can be silly and a ton of fun in a group setting, but easily adaptable to a private lesson. Each student must draw a staff and a challenge card that say things like: count the rhythm like a rapper, or hop the rhythm on one foot, etc. They can choose to accept the challenge for two points, or simply clap and count for one point.

Make a Keyboard - Use this to reinforce the pattern of the keyboard. Print this out on card stock and cut out. Have your students put the keyboard back together. You can use the side with the letters or turn the white keys upside down.

This activity was used in the following lesson plans:
Primer Lesson 1 - Introduction and Black Keys
Primer Lesson 4 - The Musical Alphabet

Rhythm Card Composing Activity

This is a great activity to help your student get out of the rut of using quarter notes or simple rhythms in their compositions. Each card is a complete measure with four total beats so your students can choose as many or as little cards as they'd like. There are also cards for advanced players with eighth note and sixteenth note rhythms. I have included instructions on how to compose a song from start to finish using the rhythm cards. I'd love to hear if you students enjoy this activity!

Treble Trouble - This is a fun and easy game to reinforce note values to my beginner students. They move ahead a space depending on the value of note they draw. Use only the cards with the note values your student has learned.

This activity was used in the following lesson plans:

Tuition and Progress Tracking Spreadsheet - This spreadsheet helps me track piano tuition each month and get a better sense of how much time each student is practicing compared to how well they are prepared for their lessons. If I notice they are practicing a lot but their assigned material is suffering, than either the material is too difficult or they are "practicing" something entirely different. I also use this spreadsheet to help students make their own goals and take more ownership of their progress

These posters are for students learning to read notes. The pictures behind the staff serve as quick reminders to the phrases my students use to remember note names. These phrases are pretty common, but let me know if you use a different one and I'd be happy to create a poster for you. These are the phrases I used:

Treble Lines - Every Good Boy Does Fine
Treble Spaces - F-A-C-E
Bass Lines - Great Big Dogs Fight Animals
Bass Spaces - All Cars Eat Gas

I also put together this reference sheet for students to put in their binders. Its a nice sheet for them to refer to while practicing.

I was wondering if you ever considered changing the layout
of your site? Its very well written; I love what
youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect
with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1
or 2 images. Maybe you could space it out better?
